1 still in critical condition following Cape Coral catamaran crash that left 3 dead

Tragedy struck off the waters of Cape Coral as a catamaran flipped, resulting in the deaths of three people. A fourth individual remains in critical condition.

Brenna Millett, Craig Millett, and Rebecca Knight lost their lives in the incident. Neal Kirby is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The incident occurred on the Caloosahatchee near the Cape Coral Yacht Club Saturday evening.

Search teams, including boats, dive teams, and helicopters, spent hours over the weekend combing the area.

Brenna Millett and Rebecca Knight died at the hospital, while Craig Millett was initially reported missing. On Sunday morning, investigators resumed their search and found Craig Millett's body near the overturned catamaran.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is investigating the crash, analyzing GPS footage and engine data to understand what went wrong.

Priscilla Willame, a neighbor of Brenna and Craig Millett, described them as "fun people" who were enjoying life to the fullest in Cape Coral.

"They had tons of friends," said Willame. "We would come over when they first got the house and [when] it was all finished, and they just had big get-togethers with all their friends."

"They were just fun people, and people that were living their life as best as they could do it, and enjoying what life had to give them," Willame said.

FWC emphasized the importance of having a plan before going out on the water, given rapidly changing weather conditions.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. WINK News reached out to FWC for updates on Kirby's condition and further details on the crash.

A spokesperson for FWC told WINK News reporter Sommer Senne, "Mr. Kirby’s condition remains the same and I have not received any updates regarding the investigation and causes of the incident. I will keep you posted if our investigators do have anything to share although I do not expect that for some time."
