For the Detroit Pistons, a long-established powerhouse in the Eastern Conference, the 2023-24 season was an absolute nightmare. They recorded the worst losing streak in NBA history with 28 consecutive losses, at one point even causing home fans to turn against them. But amidst this mess, team leader Cade Cunningham stepped up. Last season, he not only made the All-Star team but also helped the team achieve a tremendous comeback, going from last place in the East to the playoffs. Moreover, in their first playoff appearance, the Pistons battled the Knicks to a hard-fought sixth game before finally succumbing to defeat.
This season, they have once again delivered an unexpected performance. Despite losing Tim Hardaway Jr. and Malik Beasley, and with Jaden Ivey still sidelined, they have achieved a 7-2 record, returning to the top of the Eastern Conference after 20 years – a truly remarkable achievement. What excites fans even more is that the team has once again welcomed back its five core players, continuing its past glory.
