Law enforcement was on scene outside the United States Postal Service Mail Processing Center near Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) on Wednesday afternoon.

A USPS spokesperson confirmed that the facility on Jetport Loop was on lockdown for about 30 minutes around noon.

A woman inside the post office at the time told WINK Investigates Reporter Olivia Jean she saw six law enforcement vehicles and postal inspectors at the front of the building.

"There was a law enforcement action that occurred this morning at the USPS facility located at 14080 Jetport Loop, Fort Myers," said a USPS spokesperson.

The spokesperson continued, "The customer service entrance was shut down for approximately 30 minutes out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all parties involved. There was no threat to the facility, employees, or customers."

The reason for the lockdown remains undisclosed at this time.

WINK News reached out to the Lee County Sheriff's Office for further information and will provide updates as they become available.
